Discover our History.

It all began around a campfire..

Well, around many campfires really. You see, the people who make up Hands on History come from all over the world but all found themselves drawn to a campfires time and time again, in one way or another. Whether they were in castles, Viking fortresses, forests, or shorelines, we always ended up on the orange glowing borders of their flames. Around them we discussed, laugh, shed tears, and dreamed.

Whilst the flickering flames changed constantly we were reminded of the temporality of things, and so too of their beauty. Through it we experienced a common understanding of warmth, fulfillment, togetherness, as well as reminding us that life’s true satisfaction may come from some of the most seemingly simple things. We all decided that we wanted to share our passion for the past, and little by little, through many adventures, we found eachother and recognized that same drive.

The spark was lit.

So there is more than an obscure fascination for fire and simple things that binds us together, namely a deep and profound passion and dedication to living better lives, chasing the flame, through the power of history, sustainability, and heritage.

Whether we are archaeologists, potters, historians, Instagram influencers, graphic designers, blacksmiths or environmental scientists, our mindset is infused with a strong conviction that through a self reflective and engaging attitude towards our common past, we can make the world a better place providing everyone with and equal spot around the fire.

How do we achieve that? Perhaps the best way to sum it up is by taking a look at our personal mission statement:

“We aim to promote cultural heritage and history by developing unique, high-quality productions, projects, and experiences which will make people feel fulfilled and wholesome whilst promoting a sustainable existence. We work to create a sustainable future for the past to achieve a better tomorrow, based on an understanding of yesterday’s gone by.”

Although we are still figuring out how to condense it on a T-shirt, this statement goes a long way and we feel strongly about it. Our Hands-On approach to the past has proven time and again to be a universally appreciated method of engaging with a past that makes heritage work. Skill, dedication, and a good amount of stubbornness is needed to create the things we do, but we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Of course, you might have many questions about what this all exactly means. We invite you to sit down around our (digital) campfire and explore the rest of this webpage to get an impression of what we do, who we are and why.

We hope to see you soon in a future worth writing history about.

Yours,
The Hands on History Team
